LCCC Survey

A message from Mr. John Kurelja, Assist. Executive Director/Chief Academic Officer at the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit:

There has been an ongoing effort to bring a branch campus of Luzerne County Community College (LCCC) to our area. One of my responsibilities as the Chief Academic Officer at the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit is to work to support this effort. After touring a number of different facilities, the former Watsontown Elementary School has been selected by LCCC as the best location for the region.

The goal is to open the doors to this branch campus for the Fall 2019 semester. A critical step in this process is to solicit feedback from potential students in neighboring school districts and from the community at large who reside in close proximity to the branch campus.

There are a number of reasons to support a local community college and I wanted to take a moment to name a few.

  • It is an affordable means to obtain transferable credits to higher education while students are still in high school.
  • It is an excellent way for community members to earn credentials that can lead to family-sustaining wages.
  • It is an effective way to provide just-in-time training based upon new businesses that are coming to our area.

Below you will see a link to a community survey we are asking you to share with your school community so that we can gather information about what would be of value to them.

Thank you for your support of this exciting opportunity!
